Frustrated by the limiting, unimaginative (verging on offensive!) roles available to me after graduating drama school, I started writing in 2003. Identified as an ‘original black voice for the theatre’, I was selected for Royal Court Theatre ‘Critical Mass’ Young Writer’s programme (2006) & Soho Theatre Young Writer’s Programme (2007). However, I was unsure of ‘my voice’.

After taking a hiatus to focus on acting, I started writing again in 2019. My passion is female-driven narratives that celebrate the Black British experience.

Made during the first UK lockdown in 2020, my film The Lennox Report, qualified for BAFTA entry, received five star reviews, 24 national and international film festival selections, was awarded ‘Best Ensemble’ (Independent Shorts Awards, LA) and won ‘Best Romantic Comedy Screenplay’ (Canadian Diversity Film Festival 2021).

I’ve found my voice as a writer and I’m excited about creating high quality stories for screen driven by women of colour.

I’m passionate about creating stories that celebrate the rich diversity of the Black British experience - celebrating Black joy, vulnerability and empowerment.
